ISO - belts

I finally did it, I broke out the 6-9 month clothes. And look what happened. The pants were too big!

Twice I went in to get Audrey after a nap and she had managed to wiggle her way right out of her pants. Both times, she was rather pleased with herself for such an accomplishment. And I must admit - I was impressed too. I guess she just wanted to show off her cute cloth diapers.

Sick

Poor little Audrey is sick. She has been fussy for a couple of days, but that didn't turn into a full blown sickness until yesterday when she got a fever and was just miserable.

Last night was a particularly long night for me. Ryan is starting a new job today, so I slept in Audrey's room (we have our guest bed in there) so that I could comfort her if she woke up (and hopefully let Ryan get a good night's sleep). Audrey slept pretty well until about 3. Then she just wanted to be close to her Mom (or at least that is my conclusion after she cried like her toes were being cut off when I even thought about setting her down alone). So I barricaded one side of the bed with pillows and laid her down between the pillows and me. I was trying to give her a little space, but after some fussing and squirming to get comfy, she rolled over so that she was curled up next to me and fell asleep. It was so precious.

She still is not feeling very well, but her fever is down and hopefully with a few good naps she will feel better shortly.

Meeting Aunt Elena

My sister, Elena - who lives in Kansas, came out to stay with us for the weekend.

Audrey loved playing with Elena and even though she got a little fussy from missing a few naps, was a good sport about all kinds of new activities - including shopping for a wedding dress.

Yesterday, a construction crew decided to redo our driveway in order to get rid of a few cracks. Amazingly, Audrey slept right through a saw cutting the cement and a jack-hammer breaking it up. She did, however, wake up in a terrible fright to the sound of us taping up a box for Elena to take on the plane. What a funny kid.

Swingin'

We have been experiencing unusually nice weather for February in D.C. I am not complaining, just stating the facts - 65 is not a normal day - it is a great. So we took advantage of the weather and the new tot-lot behind our house.

This was Audrey's first time on a swing. She liked it, but she loved the wind - and was smiling and giggling every time it blew. I liked her crazy hair. It is actually stuck like that, and not just being blown by the wind.

Daddy's lil' sweetie

Audrey got an adorable heart themed pink outfit from her Grandma. And so I thought it would be appropriate for her to wear it on St. Valentine's Day.

The dress got a little twisted during her daily regimen of rolling all over the floor. Other than that, it seems to have been a big hit. You can't see them too well, but the tights have multi-colored hearts going up the legs and the onsie also has little multi-colored hearts embroidered on it.

Sweet Potato Pie

Audrey's great-grandparents got her this fabulous high-chair.

She broke it in with sweet potatoes. She loves both the sweet potatoes and the new chair that lets her sit so high up and be a part of all the action.

Pink Snow Bunny

We got our first real snow over the weekend.

So of course we took the opportunity to put Audrey into her down snow suit and take her outside to *enjoy* it. To tell the truth, I don't think she enjoyed it nearly as much as her parents did.

We set her in the snow and she didn't even *try* to make a snow angel - crazy kid. Even so, she was the most adorable pink snow bunny we have ever seen.

The Germans are coming!

Quick! - Hide under the couch.

Audrey has started a new sound - that is suspiciously German in nature - "Neine". She says it all the time and then rolls herself under the couch. Unfortunately for little Audrey, her little head it too big to fit under, so it isn't really as good of a hiding spot as she hoped.

The joy of sneezing

Audrey loves sneezes. She loves it when she sneezes - every time, she gets a big grin on her face afterwards. And she loves it when other people sneeze. Most of the time she will look over and smile, but sometimes she will giggle out loud at a good sneeze. Leave it to a child, to bring joy to sneezing.

On a roll

Audrey has just figured out over the last couple of days, that rolling can get her where she wants to go. She has been able to roll for several months. Now however, she has started to roll with a purpose. She is very deliberate and slow in her rolls - like she realizes the toy she is headed towards is not about to get up and walk away. She takes her time, but she gets there.

Luckily, while she is becoming more mobile, she is not concerned with rolling for the sake of rolling. There truly must be a target worth heading towards for her to be so inclined.

And what has been the most compelling thing to roll towards? First and foremost - an out of reach pacifier, but after that... Why, the entertainment center of course. With all the baskets, cords and colors, it is a favorite living room target.

Playing with Tori

Sunday was Tori's blessing. Afterwards, we all went over to A&J's for a lovely dinner. Audrey and Tori got to spend quite a bit of time playing.

As they were playing on their tummys, Audrey did a couple of really cute things. She had a book and had taken it out of Tori's reach in order to really get a good chew on it. So John gave Tori another book to play with instead. While Tori was just looking at it, deciding what to do, Audrey took the opportunity to get a good chew in on that book too - leaving Tori a little surprised and with no book at all.

Then Audrey reached over to touch Tori's face. She just gently brushed her cheek, but Tori was not going to have any of that nonsense. She gave Audrey a look that said quite clearly she did not want her face touched and immediately rolled away from Audrey. This time Audrey was the surprised one.

Mobility is not for me

Audrey is a funny kid. She has amazing arm strength from spending so much time on her tummy. She can hold herself up for an hour and leans on her elbows to play with her favorite toys. However, she has very little interest in trying to move herself about. She rolls over, but mostly on accident. She scooches, but mostly because she is just kicking and wiggling.

Introduction

This is a blog all about Audrey. She is 6 months old and the cutest little girl ever.
