Cherry Blossom craziness

Audrey and I met Ryan and his mom during lunch at the Tidal Basin for a picnic and to see the cherry blossoms.

As we were walking along, Audrey was enjoying the breezes by keeping her feet straight up in the air.

We picked the perfect day for it - 80 degrees with a slight breeze. The blossoms were in full bloom and beautiful. The crowds were a little less beautiful. And parking was just plain crazy. But in the end, it was worth all the craziness to see Miss Audrey try to eat the cherry blossoms when we held her up to them (please don't tell the park rangers).

Baby Yoga

Audrey is figuring out how to crawl. However, she seems to have a yogic approach to getting on her knees.

She starts on her belly, then goes to a push up (plank) position.

From there she sticks her little buns up in the air (downward facing dog).

And finally she drops onto her knees.

I have tried to explain to her that there are easier ways to get onto all fours, but she likes to do things her way - and what a cute way it is.

(Note on the photos: Audrey doesn't like to hold her poses for long, so it was hard to capture pictures that do justice to her unusual methods.)

A New Trick

Audrey has figured out how to get into things.

Her first target was her daddy's playstation (which we have since moved).

Her next target was her toy baskets. She has figured out how to pull them over to get whatever toys she wants out of them.

And she is awfully pleased with herself each time she does it.

Sleepless nights

Two nights ago, Audrey threw up three times in the span of one hour - soaking everything from her father to her crib sheets and bumper. After that hour however, she seemed to be just fine and slept pretty well.

Last night, while she didn't throw up at all, she was just out of sorts and kept us up on and off throughout the night. We finally gave up around 1 am and just put her in our bed. That seemed to work pretty well, she slept for two hours at a time until 5:45 this morning. The sun came up and she was not about to miss out on any part of the day.

I just don't see how she can possibly have the energy to keep going strong. I certainly don't.

Nana

Audrey has a regular babysitter/nanny now so that I can do a little work from home. Her name is Nana.

Audrey loves her already. She smiles every time she sees her and goes right to her. They read books and play and eat. What's not to love?

Maybe Nana, who is Japanese, will talk to Audrey in Japanese often enough that Audrey will be able to teach me Japanese again.

Mirror Mirror...

on the floor, who is the fairest of them all?

I set this mirror on the floor of the living room for Audrey to be able to see herself in the mirror at any time. She loves it, she will scooch herself over to it and try to reach out to the baby in the mirror. Then she will just hang out there and chat and sing.

The way we have her bed set up right now, she can see herself in the bathroom mirror if both her door and the bathroom door are open. Each time I go to get her up from a nap, the first thing she does is look at herself in the mirror and smile. It is adorable.

Hair Envy

We went up to Baltimore to visit Audrey's cousin Tori. And while we were there it was obvious that Audrey is more than a little jealous of Tori's full head of hair. She kept trying - with limited success - to get to Tori to share.

Fashion Forward

Audrey likes to put her own touch on her clothes. Sometimes, it is a bit of sweet potatoes or green beans.

This shirt was a little too symmetrical for her taste - so she went with an off the shoulder look.

With such great arms, who can blame her for wanting to show them off.

Dancing Queen

At only 7 months, Audrey is a dancing queen. I am not kidding, whenever she hears the word "dance" she starts to bounce on her legs if she is standing or wiggle back and forth and kick her legs if she is sitting or laying. It is the most adorable thing ever!!

"Eating Nemo"

I think this could be a good name for the sequel to "Finding Nemo".

The gripping plot involves a young (and adorable) little girl trying to eat the real Nemo because he looked so much like her plastic Nemo.

And, after all, everyone knows how delicious that plastic Nemo is!
